8 Months Old

The 19th seems to come more quickly every month! Harper is now 8 months old. She is developing such a fun personality. She loves to smile and will swing her head from side to side when she is feeling silly. She still lovely being tossed into the air and swung around. All of the ladies at daycare love her smile and charming personality. They also know that Harper is a girl who knows what she wants! She is known to be pretty stubborn when she does (or doesn't) want to do something. Harper is now excellent at sitting up by herself and will happily play with her toys. Speaking of toys, we had to upgrade to some new ones recently. Harper's old toys were getting a little boring to her so we bought her a mini kitchen and ball popper. It's a lot of fun to watch her learn how to use the new toys. In other news...or rather a lack of news....our pumpkin is still not mobile. She prefers to sit on her bottom and has developed a strong distaste for tummy time...which means she is rolling is quite infrequently and crawling might never happen! Oh well, when she is ready I know she will take off like a lightening bolt! In the meantime, we will enjoy our immobile sweetie pie.

Watermelon

Harper's list of safe foods is quickly expanding. Recently she shared a piece of watermelon with her dad. Harper prefers to eat watermelon while dad holds it and not when it's blended into fine (and safe) baby food.

We also learned that watermelon stains. :)

Puffs, Please

Harper recently began feeding herself puffs. Until a few weeks ago she had no interest in Puffs. Ross and I had tried feeding her them a few times and she really wasn't a fan of the flavor or the texture. Two weeks ago Harper reached for the sandwich I was eating. That was her first time expressing interest in our food so we gave the Puffs another shot - and did she ever like them this time! Her coordination was pretty bad the first night - she would easily grab the Puff but it would stick to the palm of her hand and she couldn't figure out how to get them out. It was comical watching her try to eat. Most recently she will put them into her mouth and then immediately spit them out. We think she is pushing them out of her mouth with her tongue without realizing it. Now when she is finished eating, her shirt, chair and tray are covered with spit out puffs! We figure it's just the start of her messy eating habits. :)

Water Baby

There is only one thing to do on a hot and humid summer day - play in the pool! We have been filling up Harper's bathtub pool for her to play in lately. It's the perfect size and depth for our little water baby right now. She will sit in the water and splash with her hands and legs - it's a good thing we set it up outside because she would make a huge mess indoors. She doesn't even seem to notice when the water temperature drops - she is having too much fun.
